Destination
Genesee, Co
The small mountain town of Genesee rests just 18 miles from the Mile-High City of Denver and is located west of Golden as you head west on I-70.
Genesee resides at 7,743 feet above sea level, and is home to beautiful overlooks, Genesee Candy Land, and Colorado’s famous “spaceship house”.
If you’re looking for a place to relax, head to Golden and visit the local breweries, which are some of the best in Colorado.
We’re excited to celebrate with you in an area that represents our love of all things nature.
Getting There
By Plane
The Denver International Airport (DEN) is located one hour from Christies of Genesee, with plenty on the way to suit your interests and needs. We suggest renting a car once you arrive so you have the chance to explore all that Colorado has to offer before the wedding.
By Car
If you have time for a drive, there’s really nothing better than ending a road trip in the Arapahoe and Roosevelt National Forests, Garden of the Gods in Manitou Springs, or in Denver.
Genesee is located about half an hour west of Denver along I-70 (East to West).

The Wedding Party
Ryan and Cynthia met in college and have been together ever since. Their home in Thornton is filled with video games, computers, books, and fur kids. They are so pleased that you not only came to this site, but also made it through this paragraph. This all means you’re coming to the wedding, right?!

Registry
The best present you could possibly give us is the celebration of our marriage. However, if you’d like to spoil us, we’ve picked out a few items and activities that pique our interests.
IT’S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS INFORMATION.
Your Calendar
The events kick off on Friday evening and end on Saturday night, but please enjoy the area for as long as you’re able.
Wedding Party: For the groomsmen, tuxedos and matching accessories and black shoes are required. For bridesmaids, bridesmaid dresses and silver heeled shoes are required. Some pictures will be outdoors in forested area, weather permitting, so please wear thicker heels so they don’t sink into the grass if it is a little wet.
Wedding Guests (Shoes): Weather permitting, the ceremony and parts of the reception will be outdoors, but on pavement. But, if you want to explore the forested area in back, shoes that can traverse gravel and grass would make your life easier.
Wedding Guests (Dress): Black-tie optional, formal, smart casual, summer formal, cocktail, or semi-formal attire are appreciated. For men, business casual is also totally fine (think a polo and slacks). Don’t know which is which? Neither did we, so click here for examples.
If you decide to visit Indian Hot Springs, you should pack a swimsuit! It’s just 20 minutes further than Genesee going west on I-70 to Idaho Springs.
If you’d like to make the hour-long drive down to Garden of the Gods from Denver, which is a gorgeous area, you should pack hiking clothes. It’s not difficult, but it IS dusty.
If you decide to visit a Fourteener, bring a jacket and lots of water! These mountains sit at 14,000 feet in elevation (hence the term, “Fourteener”) and are often 10 to 15 degrees colder than in Denver. Ryan’s favorite Fourteener is Mount Bierstadt, about 1 hour and 15 minutes outside of Denver and up Guanella Pass
In Denver, average high temperatures at the beginning of June are 78°F (25°C), and lows are around 52°F (11°C).
Genesee averages a high of 70°F (21°C) and a low of 45°F (7°C) during the beginning of June.
Average rainfall is 1.6 inches. A light jacket and/or rain gear may be useful during your stay.
Tangy BBQ chicken & brisket, baked beans, garlic mashed potatoes, salad option, and cornbread. Along with a fresh fruit platter.
Yes, the venue has a selection of beer, well drinks, wine, champagne, and non-alcoholic soft drinks and water. The first alcoholic beverage is free to our guests who are over 21.
Yes. There will be a small gluten free bridal cake and obviously the bride won’t be eating it all by herself, so if you have an issue with gluten, please feel free to partake!
If you have a different dietary restriction, please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you!
Your Screens
We are asking everyone to not take photos during the ceremony. Please keep your phones and cameras in your pockets or bags on Do Not Disturb or on Airplane mode. We will have professional photographers and videographers capturing the ceremony and we’ll share the results!
We’re not really social media people, and we’re also pretty private people. In that vein, we would ask that you please not post any pictures of us or other guests besides yourself and your plus ones on social media. #nohashtag
Thank you so much for understanding!
Your Kiddos/Pets
We’re so looking forward to seeing all of you, especially the kiddos (they ARE the life of the party at a wedding, after all!). That being said, our venue does have a few rules for children:
- They must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
- They must not cross the little black fence.
- They must stay off the rocks and must not throw rocks.
- They must not pick the flowers.
Ryan and I are responsible for any damages that occur during the wedding, so we definitely appreciate the help in keeping the kiddos occupied!
Christies of Genesee does not allow animals inside the venue, including the outdoor areas.
Yes. Rice, confetti, and bubbles are not allowed inside or outside the venue. In addition, smoking is not allowed inside the building, and open flames are not permitted inside or outside the facility.
Your Safety
We want all of our guests to stay safe and healthy, even after the wedding!
We understand that our guests traveling from afar may not be able to change their plans to come to Colorado if they are ill, so we are providing masks and hand sanitizer at the venue for your convenience.
In addition, out of consideration for both our guests and the staff at Christies of Genesee, we ask that if you do have a fever, you please distance yourself from other guests during the ceremony/reception and wear a mask unless eating or drinking.
